If you are trying to teach your kids from home today for the first time or the five thousandth time, and if it was hard and good and great and terrible at the same time - know that you're normal and you totally did great!
I've been a homeschool mom for 17+years so I should be used to it, but we officially started teaching our two new kids from home today and IT WAS AN ACTUAL ZOO.
Matt had to push back his work needs for a couple hours so he could chase babies while I tried to keep our 13 and 14 year olds focused and cooperative. Meanwhile, Malachi tried to get his normal homeschool work done, Elias logged online for his college classes, and Brayden did some addition and subtraction at the kitchen counter. Spills, poop, arguments, whining, phone calls...
Suddenly it was lunchtime and we were only half done and everyone was hungry. Well anyway. WE WILL GET THIS FIGURED OUT!
Now that our new boys' assignments have all been posted I spent time this afternoon getting the rest of the week organized for them (they both have learning struggles so they need extra time and help).
The first day is always the hardest as we work out kinks. Change is hard and God is faithful! Breathe, pray, pray, breathe. His Spirit is at work to fill us with peace even when the work is hard.
