We've found that our new boys need complete structure and routine in order to be the least bit settled as they adjust to living with us. We've worked in two slots of family game time every day, choosing from this big list of games on our shelves:

Our family culture is completely different from what our new Bonus Boys are used to. Bless their hearts, we certainly must seem so weird and crazy to them!

 

It's been two weeks since they moved in, and they are slowly getting used to our "ways." Family devotionals. Time around the table while we eat. Family fun times. Prayer time. 

 

For years our crew has used this method to help us all learn scripture. We've continued the tradition, and our new ones are using these cards to join in during dinner time. These are the small moments of sweetness that help give us hope during the most challenging moments. (Our new ones aren't sure what to think about God yet. Fair enough. We won't push. We know what God thinks about them...) 

We're blowing through groceries like never before, and I take great delight in seeing everyone eat well around our table. Too bad I haven't been able to keep track of how many pounds of produce we've consumed. It would be fascinating - or scary? Ha!

 

Tonight, Justus wants to make us all this meal. Yesterday, Malachi pulled these out of the freezer to bake fresh for everyone's afternoon snack. Elias will throw this together today to go with our lunch.

 

Something to think about if you haven't already: Who in your community hasn't had the ability to stock up on needed groceries right now? How might you be able to help? 

 

Our family has been in prayer about this as we know several families who often don't have enough to get by. We have plenty and extra to share as God prompts us.
