I'll omit all the exhausting details and just let you know that trying to get ready for church this morning with a baby who kept trying to eat cat food and a 5-year old who is really needing some Daddy time (Matt's in Chicago for soccer this weekend, after also being gone last weekend) - well, Mama felt frazzled.
I gave up on a shower and washed my hair at the kitchen sink while Boy Babe watched the weirdness then giggled at the towel on my head. After I tried on three dresses that I couldn't make look right, I settled for the blue one, went potty, and totally dipped the bottom of that dress right into the toilet. I laughed - one of those teary-eyed laughs in which one is on the verge of becoming hysterical.
I was no where close to ready to go and Boy Babe was super tired, so I sent Elias and Brayden off to Bible class and decided to give the baby a nap and me some much-needed alone time with the Lord. It's possible that our all-knowing Father allowed the dress to be dipped in pee just so I'd stop and take a moment with Him. Whatever. I'll take it.
Forty minutes with Jesus later, I was in a clean dress and at peace, ready to get the baby and head to church to meet up with Elias and Brayden. (Asa and Malchi are in CA this weekend celebrating Great Grandma's 100th bday!) First though, I headed to our storage room to get something out of the fridge. And that's when I saw that...
...the door to our large stand up freezer wasn't closed all the way.

You've got to be kidding me.
Cringing, I peeked inside. Meat/blood dripped and peaches sat soggy in their bags. I let out a big sigh, but also considered the big picture. After all, I'd just sat with Jesus for 40 minutes, so truly I realized that others have much bigger problems that this. Whining would help nothing.
I took care of a few drippy things I could take care of, got the baby, and ran to church. Later I texted Matt:
"When you get home and see the freezer door open (defrosting) and a bunch of meat in the trash, just know that it could have been worse."
He texted back, "Yikes" because he's a boy.

You didn't need to know all about my morning drama, but I felt it was ridiculous enough to share anyway.
Elias is reffing soccer this afternoon, both little boys are napping, and Mama is sitting with you here in the quiet. Everyone else will be home later tonight and we will all have a freshly defrosted freezer to enjoy. Isn't that delightful?

So sometimes, I don't have time to eat.
How ironic that I'd written this new post before today, only to have plans to share it on a day like today. I'd sort of eaten breakfast before the pee dress, cat food baby, drippy peaches situations. I wish mornings like this morning were unusual,
but the truth is, if I don't make time to take care of myself, I'd be settling for cat food too. Here's my much better solution:

Spending time with God, in prayer and in the Word, sitting in the quiet listening to Him and talking to Him - THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT part of taking care of ourselves!!
Beyond that, we have to take care of ourselves physically so that we can take care of others and serve in the ways God calls us to serve.
I'm taking a quick moment today to remind you that this year's Healthy Living Bundle is only open for one more day. Please get this highly valued package and learn all you can about taking care of yourself and your family.

May your freezer door be closed, your cat food container secure, and the tail end of your dress far from the toilet,
