Shucks, I didn't know better.
I used to buy margarine all the time. {sob, gag, cringe}
I did it because it was so much cheaper than real butter and because I had no idea that it was terrible for our bodies. I really didn't even know that there was much difference between margarine and butter. I just thought I was being smart by not spending more of our tiny grocery budget on actual butter.
When we know better, we do better butter.
If I think too hard now about all the margarine, aspartame, and hydrogenated oils I used to consume, I could become completely overwhelmed with worry about the fate of my health. But the worry itself could hurt my health, so what's the point? I've moved on, and I've spread real butter all over my future.
Switching from margarine to butter was one of the first real food changes I made, and it wasn't even difficult. In fact, it was one of the first things that made me realize that real food was delicious. Margarine tastes funky. Butter tastes pure and sweet!

Sigh...if only all the good changes could happen as easily as switching to real butter. But still, through the years, I've learned that the changes to real food truly haven't been as difficult as I thought. And homemade chicken compared to boxed chicken? Well, it doesn't even take longer to make and the flavor difference is incredible!
