Our foster Boy Babe woke up this morning just as our 17-year old was finished with his shower and coming down for the day. I was on my way up the stairs to get Baby when I heard his crying stop and saw that Elias was already on the job. With Boy Babe snuggled close, he carried him down and handed him to me - both with big smiles.
My teens don't often see the dirty socks they've left in the living room, but when it comes to our new little ones, I continue to be amazed at their attentiveness and care. Taking in the Littles has been so good for my Bigs!
As the day has progressed, I've noticed that Boy Babe smells like the cologne Elias' had just put on before picking him up this morning. It makes me chuckle, and get a bit teary eyed with gratitude. God is at work, and He shows me in many ways throughout each day that while so much of our journey through foster care has been difficult - the beauty of His goodness supersedes it all.
God is good. Our teenage-smelling baby serves as a great reminder of this today. (For the record, we are grateful to report that the teens don't hold the baby after soccer practice, amen.)
