This is what we keep saying about our life right now as we enjoy our new foster babe, our soon-to-be-adopted 5 year old, our middle schooler, our high schooler, and our college kids. "Wow, God! What is this amazing thing you are doing?"
Last night all eight of us were home at the same time, and I just couldn't stop smiling! Then today, I packed up Boy Babe (leaving a feverish Bonus Boy home with 14-year old Malachi) and headed to the college campus to hear our oldest son, Asa, speak during their daily chapel.
Asa is already a college senior (boy did that happen fast!) and did a remarkable job sharing words of Truth about trusting God to make plans for our lives. I listened with joy while feeding and burping Boy Babe.
I really want to emphasize this: God has big plans for all of us!! His plans for me look different from His plans for you, because the needs of this world are many. It is incredibly important that each of us to be open to His Kingdom work in and through us - because every plan He has for each of us is worthy, beautiful, and purposeful.
If your focus is too much on self, too much on busyness, too much on this world, it's time to ask God to help you lay down your life, deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow Him with your whole heart.
I feel like God must teach and re-teach this lesson to me daily. Why? Because saying "yes" to God's plans for us isn't always easy. In fact, the daily grind of following His plan can often be very hard. But it's really only hard if we think that we are the ones doing the work, forgetting that the work is actually HIS and we are simply His humble, honored servants.
Ask God what He has for you today. Ask Him to fill you with His love so that it overflows from you into the lives of people He puts in your path. Ask God to open your eyes to His miracles around you. They are many!
Then watch and see what God will do.
Dig into His word. Fall in love with Jesus. Earnestly seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Oh that God's plans may be fulfilled in each of us!
