Sleep deprived much, Laura?
This message brought to you by a mama who hasn't been getting quite enough sleep since a darling 2-month old baby boy moved into our home one week ago.
God placed a brand new foster babe in our arms seven days ago, so our family is privileged with an opportunity to serve in a way that has me marveling at His works and plans. But can I tell you some of the silly things I've done or said during this marvelous week?
- As Elias (age 17) left for class one morning at 8:35, I looked up at him from my rocking chair and said, "Goodnight, Bud." He just chuckled and gave me a wave.
- When I was telling Matt about a scripture Asa had texted me for encouragement, I told him he should look it up too. In 3 Samuel. Um????
- Friends have been showing up at our door with baked goods and casseroles to help me feed my family during this busy transition time. When I opened the door yesterday, and was greeted with a kind smile and a delicious package from a friend who simply said, "Muffins?" I started to cry.
Don't mind me. I'm just tired.
Truly I cannot tell you how honored we all feel to have the privilege of loving on these bonus children God has been putting in our home. This work is not easy, but as we are learning, it is His work, not ours. We simply listen, obey, trust, and in this case, rock and burp. ;)
Chocolate Cake makes it better

Yesterday I sort of cooked chicken.
Even as full as my hands and heart are right now, I found 5-minutes yesterday to make this Simple Hawaiian Chicken for our dinner. Simple Meals for the win - always!

If I'm missing anything right now it's that I haven't had a chance to sit in the quiet with Jesus and have focused time in the Word like I love to do. I know I'll get my feet back under me again soon, but right now, there simply isn't time to sit with my Bible. (Beyond caring for my family, our 5-year old, and the new baby, there are a load of meetings foster parents need to take part in for the good of the kids and their
parents. My calendar is whoa.)
So email me back with a scripture that's been blessing you lately, will you? During a bottle feeding, sometimes I can pick up my phone and open an email or two. I'd won't be able to reply, but I sure would love to soak in some scripture encouragement from you!
By the way, a dear friend came over yesterday and took care of the baby so I could TAKE A NAP. It was bliss, and I dare say she kind of liked getting in those snuggles!
Be open every day to ways God will work through you for the good of the Kingdom!
