Yesterday I Took My Kids to a Funeral for their 20-Year Old Friend...

Learning and Growing He was a friend from church camp, killed in a car accident last week. None of us were especially close to the young man who died, but we are close with his younger siblings. So yesterday, two of our teen sons headed with me out of town for the young man's funeral so we could support his family and other friends who are grieving. There's something so sobering about funerals, making us all reflect on our own lives. When it's a funeral for someone so young, reality hits even more. So that's what Elias, Malachi, and I did
yesterday. It's funny how busy schedules come to a halt, making nothing else matter when crisis hits. I found it worth the drive and day away from home just so I could hold and hug the victim's younger sister while she cried. How I love that girl. Today I'm reflecting on the truth that nothing in this world matters except for our walk with God as we focus on eternity. Every task, every word, every thought needs to be focused on what truly matters - Jesus
and His righteousness.
