It's that time of year when we all have to search for our happy place between our fear of too much sun exposure and the dangers of chemicals in sunscreen. What about the questions of bug bites vs. chemical laden bug spray?
What would Grandma do?
I wish she was around to ask. But here's where our family has landed.
Sunscreen? We only use it if we're going to be in the sun longer than is healthy and there's no way around it. (Like next week when two of my fairest skinned boys will be on a mission trip in Ecuador. They'll need to use some sun screen while
they're out working in the direct sun all day. God is bigger, serve him well, use the sun screen, bring mommy some Ecuadorian coffee when you come back, amen.)
As for bug spray? I don't even have to worry about unhealthy options because I've found this one. It's non-toxic, I feel 100% good about it, and it WORKS.
So there you have it. I actually lay in the sun ON PURPOSE during the summer so I can replenish necessary Vitamin D. Bring it on. I heart sunshine!!!
And since all bugs can't be butterflies or ladybugs,
we're grateful to have this.
If you're curious, go check out my list of Top 10 Favorite Real Foods (and least favorites too). Spoiler:
kale didn't make either list. Laura will never make you eat kale. Or jicima. Just because it's good for you don't mean you have to like it. We're grown ups. We can make choices. There are lots of real food options and we can find the ones we love, can we not? We can.
