We just enjoyed a fabulous weekend with my family in Kansas. Our 4-year old foster son loved his time "on the farm" so much it was quite difficult to pull him away. (And of course he had played so hard for so many hours that he fell asleep a half second after we pulled out of the drive.) What a joy!
Now that we are home, I'm once again
relishing the fact that it is summer break and our family can get a few projects done while enjoying some breathing room in our schedules.
As is always the case after we've been away from home, I want to get caught up - or maybe even ahead - in the kitchen. I started making a list this morning of items I wanted to bake before it got too hot, and of course, my list got a little bit
long.
See, I started making my list, but then I thought I'd open up the books in the Kids in the Kitchen collection to see which ones our foster son might enjoy making (and eating!) with me. That kid loves to cook with me - so sweet!
Anyway, if you need me today, you know
where to find me - somewhere behind the butter or under the rolled oats.
Our time with our foster son seems to be limited at this point (though of course that information can change in five minutes, so we are just waiting to hear what will actually happen). Either way, we want to make the most of the time with him that we have left. There's lots of Jesus talk and song going on around
here. Lots of talk of our love for him. And quite a bit of effort in helping him learn some life skills that haven't been introduced.
Today we'll be having fun in the kitchen before we run and play outside in the sunshine. Ah, summer, I love you.
If you haven't already, GRAB THESE BOOKS. They are full of recipes and guidance as you help your kids become comfortable and love being in the kitchen. The entire collection is just $5. Awesome, right?
Hope your holiday weekend was fabulous and that your week is off to a
great start!
