If I've learned anything the past 30 days it's this: Don't make plans, because God already made the plans. Just be open, listen, obey, and trust.
So what's God up to at the Coppinger house this week? Oh, not much. Except that we went from zero to foster family in two days.
Remember the baby we were caring for a few weeks ago? Yeah, she's already in her forever home and that has nothing to do with this new situation. (Though she was quite instrumental in preparing our hearts for this new thing.) My mind is blown right now. What is God doing? He amazes me.
Tuesday night we learned of
our friend's little boy who needed a home. We talked and prayed as a family about this. Were we willing to lay our lives down and take up our cross in this way? Is this what God wanted for our family and for Boy's family?
God said YES. And so did we.
I cannot tell you how honored I am that
God is working through us this way. This week has truly amazed me. We had no idea this was coming, but God did. So now we're foster parents. (Side note: schmoly paperwork, Batman.)
I obviously can't give details, but I can ask for prayers. Isn't our God good? We get to love on Boy (who is incredibly sweet) and love on his mom (who I already have a relationship with). God is working for their
good and we get to be a part of it.
What's God doing in and through your life? I'd love to hear. He has plans for all of us as He radiates His goodness and love through our communities and His people. Don't try to figure it out. Simply be open, listen, obey, and trust. It will be beautiful.
Some Heavenly Homemakers Logistics:
- As if I wasn't already struggling to find time to work online, this limits me even more. But I have zero concern about this because of the "God is at work" thing.
- I got ahead a few weeks ago on writing and scheduling blog posts to share at HHM. At the time I wondered why God had
given me extra writing time and helped me to get so far ahead. Now I know why. Again, my mind is blown.
- Last summer God put the perfect person in my life to be a Virtual Assistant for Heavenly Homemakers. Just when I thought I couldn't love her and her work more, I find myself realizing God's perfect plan for hiring her. She helps behind the scenes to keep my site going. Praise Him!
- I'll continue to
email fun news when I can during these upcoming full weeks. But hey, who's making plans? Not me.
So friends, thank you. I feel incredibly supported because I know all of you are going to be praying and pulling for us through this. Yep, I know this before I even send this email. You've proven yourselves dear to me.
I'll talk to
you soon(ish), or as soon I we finish the mountains of foster care paperwork. We're back to singing ABCs at our house, and by the way - Can I tell you how humbling it is to see my big teenagers loving on this little boy? If for no other reason to feel joyful, MY BOYS ARE GROWING IN BIG WAYS through this. It's glorious.
I'll leave you with two of our family's favorite recipes because yep, I
got ahead and these posts were ready to go without my help this week:
Hugs and prayers,
