My boys like to play "would you rather" which in my experience, never offers any good options. There's no good way to answer, "Would you rather walk slowly for one mile across a street of flaming nails or run naked through a lake of fat worms?"
No. Good. Answer. Am I right?
Reality is that life throws us "would you rather" options all day long:
- "Would you rather have a clean house or have a full refrigerator (aka finally go to the grocery store)?"
- "Would you rather finish everything on the school work list or finally clean out the email inbox?"
- "Would you rather put a great meal on the table or help teenage boy #3 get in some driving hours as he works toward his license?"
Sure, some days I actually say yes to both options and execute accordingly. Some days I get neither done. And some days I might as well just laugh and consider the "run naked through a lake of fat worms" as my best option.
I love my
life. My God, my family, my friends - I am so blessed. So what that house never looks perfect! There's a lot of life going on here, and that makes my home beautiful.
This week I've been considering how to balance contentment with the here and now with what, if anything, I could do differently or better as I run my home, family life, work life, ministry life, self
care...
There are areas in life I'm content to be okay with (embrace the laundry pile - it is what it is until the last child moves out). And there are areas I want to continue to grow in as a mom/wife/homemaker (we need to get a better chore system in place already).
As I look through these neat resources, I get pretty excited. While the idea of making my way through all 106 items feels overwhelming and actually, unnecessary - I am excited to pick my top 10 and enjoy them to the full. Once done, I'll pick a few more. Because of these, I'm enriched and encouraged in this job I get to do
everyday as a homemaker.
Here's just a tiny sampling of all the offerings in this package!
