When it
comes to juice, I've been all over the place through the years.
Oh yeah, by the way, we are talking about actual juice today. It doesn't get much juicier than that.
I used to have no clue that drinking juice could be bad. I went for the cheap stuff,
not realizing that the reason it was so cheap is that the bottle contained very little fruit juice and a whole lotta high fructose corn syrup.
Then I went for the 100% fruit juice, not realizing that while at least it's full fruit juice, there's still a lot of natural sugar in it.
Then I
stayed away from juice altogether, lumping it into the same category as soda and M&Ms.
NOW, I've found a middle ground. I don't serve juice to my family very often, but I don't mind them drinking the 100% juice varieties from time to time as a treat. What I've actually found to be nicest for this season in our lives is to have a little stash of individual-sized juice bottles in
our extra fridge. We pull them out to take to ball games, and they really refresh our athletic sons after they've worked hard for a few hours on the court or field.
They are also fun to have to share when our boys have friends over. I mean, usually we go all out and offer our guests water from the tap. But occasionally we'll pull out some juice bottles to share. And seeing as I just got a new
rug in my living room and I REALLY DON'T WANT ANYTHING SPILLED ON IT, I like offering young guests little bottles to drink from. After all, bottles have lids, and I'll thank you for securing said lid each time you take a sip of juice.
