We are currently spending around $1,200 for groceries every month. This does not include what we spend on diapers and other household items. This is only food. For these people:
- 2 parents
- 3 teen/adult children
- Many of their friends and lots of college students who pop in and out
- 4 small children
- 2 babies (Who don't cost us much because they are supplemented by the WIC program, praise God!)
Where do I grocery shop? The following are my favorites, and here's where our money goes:
How this works for me:
- I try to go to Costco once each month (because it is an hour from our house)
- I place a Walmart Pick-Up order about once a week, mostly for fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables to get us through until the next Costco run (I'm not sure how I would survive right now without Walmart Pick-up!! SO helpful!)
- I place one Azure Standard order each month to get special items I can't get from a regular grocery store (or to save money compared to going to a place like Whole Foods). Here's what I like to get from Azure Standard.
- I have several items that come through Amazon in my monthly subscribe-and-save order. Groceries delivered to my porch - amazing!
- We get milk from a local farm once each week. We order a half a cow from that same farm once each year.
And that's that! How about you? What are your favorite ways to shop for groceries?
Food out our ears,
