At the store again last night, I recognized how inflation really has done its thing. But what I mostly noticed is that processed food was REALLY high.
I want (and need) to have easy-to-warm up food on hand, which is why I was eyeing the frozen chicken patties for sandwiches. But the breakdown was that they cost $1.24 PER PATTY, and that's not a price for convenience that I'm willing to pay for a sandwich at home. Especially for something that isn't super healthy.
Meanwhile, here's something else I noticed: Ingredients to make food at home? Not a huge increase in price. This is so encouraging!! I know we can't all make everything from scratch. But seeing the price in the frozen food section inspired me to go home and do as much as I can.
Also? Produce prices haven't gone up wildly, at least where I am. It's still reasonably priced. My 1-pound containers of organic spring mix is still $5, just as it has been for a very long time. We can all feel great about buying plenty of fruits and veggies!
SO. Let's stick with buying ingredients that are very affordable and let's make some great food. So much of what we can make at home is EASY, and of course, it tastes better homemade.
This is what we all need to read today --->
