Our first Snow Day this week, I made all about the kids. I wanted them to
make great snowy memories with
Snowman Pancakes, crafts, games, and
Snowflake Quesadillas. This is all good!! But by the end of the day, since we'd been cooped up for so many hours, we started to have some fussy kids.
During my prayer time on Tuesday morning, God led
me to choose a different focus for our second snow day. An outward focus. So instead of figuring out how to keep our kids entertained for the day, we led them in considering ways we could use our time loving others.
We spent some time in the kitchen together, making
Chocolate Chip Cookies to give to our church
staff on Sunday. Later, we made cards to share encouragement. There are SO MANY WAYS to serve others, and these are pretty simple ones. But the goal now is to teach them to think of others so that as they get older, they can serve in bigger ways. (Typically on Tuesdays,
Brayden and Kiya and I hand out food at a
Lincoln food distribution. It was canceled because of snow this week, though.)
